An ARCHITECTURAL INTERVENTION for METU ROWING CLUB in EYMİR

Image
Assignment In this exercise, you are required to design an architectural intervention for METU Rowing Club in Eymir. This intervention involves both tectonic and topographic articulations , and it should provide open and semi-open spaces and a deck for boarding. These open and semi-open spaces should accommodate various activities, including:            -rowing, exercising, racing, boarding, storing the boards.            -secondary activities related to resting, socializing, watching, etc. Main considerations:            -Your intervention should have a consistent architectural language and construction method.            -The articulation of the topography should be integral to your overall design.            -You should consider the main pedestrian approach(es) to the site.            -...

DESIGNING a WALL for CHILDREN to PLAY on/in

Image
PlayWALL In this assignment, we are required to design a wall for children to play on/in. This wall is expected to be able to accommodate a set of play activities (climbing, swinging, hiding, jumping etc.) and also unfold new events that are associated with / entailed by the act of play in (resting, socializing etc.). While doing so, we will challenge both the physical characteristic of walls (impenetrable, solid, static) as well as the concept of a wall that is traditionally associated with separation, isolation or segregation. In this assignment, we are working in groups of three. The scale of the model and the drawings are 1/20. In this assignment, we used cellular organization, triangular cells, and their variation. We changed cell's sections according to the activity pattern of children.

FINAL JURY ASSIGNMENT.2

#SEVENTEEN Requirements: Your model should be (aproxx. 60.000cm^3)  You should use black cardboard for folded surface. Posters that express your development of the folded surface, design ideas and concepts. The poster size should be 35cm*50cm and its multiples, depending on your drowings. However, all your posters have to be the same size and should be used in the same direction. My main idea was creating three different continues surfaces and interrelated voids with them. To create my surfaces I used triangular shapes. I created my triangular shapes on the black cardboard and I use them other surfaces, too. Also, I created my voids on the cardboard and translucent surfaces, that I hatched them on my developments, and I repeated them on my mesh surface.

FİNAL JURY ASSIGNMENT.1

#SEVENTEEN Given: Opaque surface metarials : 1mm cardboard  (in gray or black) or corrugated cardboard. Translucent surface metarials : wire mesh, translucent acetate paper Stick metarials: wooden sticks , metal wire (in any thckness and cross-section) Design a total number of seventeen interrelated volumes with varying qualities (scale, proportion, surface qualities/ metarials, permeability, accessibility, level of illumination etc.) You need to follow some rules while designing:  You are required to use one single cardoard elements as a continuous surface that folds and bends throughout the design. In addition to the cardboard, you are required to select and use at least three materials from the list given above. You are allowed to use the elements made out of these metarials in any size, number and shape. Your design needs to occupy a total volume of approx. 100.000cm^3. your design should have excellent workmanship and stabilty. Requirements:...

VOID

Given: Opaque surface metarials : cardboard (in grayscale or corrugated), balsa sheet Translucent surface materials :  wire mesh, translucent acette paper Stick metarials: wooden sticks (or balsa sticks in any dimention), metal sticks 1. Design three related voids by using two surface elements and minimum ten linear design elements. 2. For the surface elements, choose one opaque and one translucent metarial type from the list above. 3. For your linear elements, choose one metarial type from the list above, You are allowed to use minimum ten linear elements of any length. 4. Your design should occupy approx. 100000 cm^3 volume. I had made 2 cylindrical tube with surface elements and one bridge with sticks element. There is not any relation and it was broken in the panel discussion. 2. part of assignment was related with 5 voids. Criticism : It is just like a box and voids does not have any relation. It gives you sense of 2.5 D design. Criticism...

DOUBLE SIDED RELIEF

Image
JURY ASSIGNMENT Given:  White cardboard Asked: 1. Generete a number  quadrilateral prisms  folded out of white cardboard as your design elements. 2.Make a composition representing the design concepts that you choose by using these elements. your design should be a  double-sided relief  that reflects  your design ideas  on both sides. Your design should be approx. 1000cm2 from the top (or bottom) view. Poster: Plan of both sides. Section which reflects your principles. Diagrams related your principles. My principle is hierarchy and you can see it all over my design. I hatched my group on my plan which are 3 squaare and one pralelogram. and I used trapezoid as a connector of my groups and elements.
