Curvestone Phocaea , which is a multi-layered town dated to Pre-historical, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Genoese and Ottoman periods, is one of the oldest and historical districts in İzmir. It hosts to high number of archeological sites, and the historical and natural texture of the city is preserved. The most important architectural element is stone in Phocaea since the archaic period to the present. The oldest stone structure is ovoid houses in the Phocaea and in Anatolia in the 14th century BC. Another old stone structure is city walls from the ancient world in the beginning of the 6th century BC. Moreover, tower houses are another stone structure from Ottoman period . In addition to tower houses, there are examples of civil architecture from the 19th century, and construction material of these houses is Lithos Phokaikos that is a special stone to Phocaea. Grup members: Begüm ŞENER, Ebrar SAYIN, Yaşar Alp KAHRAMANOĞLU      The aim of the project is to  handle structural and architectural design together . This was a group project and we are expected to design our dream house and develop our own program requirements ourselves. Having the project site given below, groups are responsible for providing a minimum of two stories in the design (one of which could be a basement) and satisfying the listed requirements; - Floor plans, sections, and elevations (showing structural system)  - Axonometric views showing the building from the exterior  - Axonometric views showing the structural system  - A report including calculations and the above-required drawings.

Concept Design,  FLUX-HALLBOX: Metaphor of Imaginations in Flux Concept design is the initial stage of the design idea. It does not have a one-to-one relationship with the main design but it is an abstract representation of the idea. In this study, we created a hallbox that represents the theatre space abstractly. We are expected to interpret the metaphor* of imagination in flux referring to one of our own theatrical performance experiences as an audience.  Beginning of the study the box was a black wooden box; however, because of the pandemic and quarantine, I have to complete it from home and turn to use digital tools.  * Metaphor  is a  figurative expression  that refers to something although meaning or mentioning another. FLYOVER / METADROMOS* Group Members: Begüm Şener, H.Büşra Öztürk Çiğdem neighborhood acts as a buffer zone between green (METU Forest/ Şirindere Valley) of city and urban mass. Our site is placed in the border of Şirindere Valley, inside the Çiğdem neighborhood. In this part of the city, there are no landmarks, so that The Flyover acts like a new landmark for the city. As a promenade , Flyover enriches urban life in terms of greenery (edible gardens/ greenhouses) and experimental uses (butterfly garden/ agriculture workshop and vista points). Flyover metamorphoses to form different public and private uses in the site and shapes the organization of housing units. The housing units contain greenhouses which are shared with different owners and roof street which acts like the wing of Flyover. All these shared uses support the neighborhood idea.
