DOMINANACE and CONTRAST


Given:
Paper band with a width of 1 cm
Black cardboard 29 x 41cm

Asked: You are required to make a 2D composition representing the concepts of dominance/ contrast. Stripes of paper band should span from the cardboard's edge to edge. Partial stripes are not allowed.

Because of its height, it is contrasting with the other buildings. Also, it has figure-ground relationship because we cannot understan which one is figure and which one is ground. Proposal for The Future of The Historic Building and/within Its Context

THE NEIGHBORHOOD of SULUHAN ARKASI STREET Group members: Begüm Şener, Ozan Uysal, H.Büşra Öztürk, M.Enes Balcı, Nima Mahboubi Mamaghani Ulus is one of the most important centers of Ankara. Also, we learned that, in this street, there was a very alive neighborhood before demolished buildings, and we think that a lively neighborhood in Ulus is a very strong social value . Moreover, façades of the buildings have an architectural and educational value since they are made of different materials from different periods. Also, some part of the infill elements become empty which gives us to chance to observe the structural system , too so that we keep the historical façades which are face with the street. And we support them with consolidating the old structural system. By consolidating, we used a timber frame structure. VOID Asked: You are required the walk around the faculty building. Observe ans explore at least three related volumes that you will select.  Express the charcteristics of these volumes and their relationships on a A4 paper. Use sketches, drawings, photos, etc.     There are 3 voids connecting a commen bigger void. The light red one and green one are defined by 4 surfaces and the red one is defined by 3 surfaces. The big void is not realy defined, It is  defined by the other voids.
